Options for Boiler Insurance
Consumers will find that there are various types of boiler insurance offered at various costs. These covers are offered by companies such as British Gas. One does not need to buy boiler cover from the same company that one purchases gas from, although this may be convenient.
The most expensive types of boiler insurance are the ones that cover the whole heating system. These are typically referred to as heating maintenance plans and they cover repairs to the boiler, as well as anything to do with your full central heating system, such as pipes, radiators and valves. Take it from someone who replaced pipes, it’s not easy to do yourself, and in my case it wasn’t cost effective. If you don’t own the tools you need to do the job yourself, these alone cost as much as coverage.
There is fine print on every contract and heating maintenance contracts are no exception. Few companies cover repairs immediately. If they didn’t have a waiting period, people would just wait till their boiler broke before buying coverage. There will be other terms and conditions as well. Service may be provided immediately only for true emergencies, which is understandable. Other ties, obsolete items may not be covered, such as very old boiler as they will likely need replaced soon. It’s better to replace a boiler first, then purchase boiler insurance.
